West is studying to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. “I chose this field because I have a desire to help people and to understand how things like the human body and medications that are used for treatment work. I want to provide a comfortable place for all but especially for trans individuals so they can ask medical questions confidentially and feel safe with someone. Creating a comfortable environment in the medical field is important to me as well as showing people that you care. I am very grateful for this grant, and I plan to use it on classes and books that are needed for the next quarter. It was extremely helpful as I needed some financial help with school to the point where I was thinking that I had to take a break from school. It eases my mind thinking about next quarter and reminds me that there are resources and people who can and want to help.”
