Luca is currently working on getting her GED. “I dropped out my Sophomore year due to health reason and had to get a job to support myself. I have been working hard to get back on track, but expenses have kept pushing out my dream of getting my GED and going to college. Now, with this grant, I can finally pay for the rest of my GED testing and college application fees. I am so excited and thankful. I never thought something like this could happen for me. It is easy to see the negativity in the world, but getting this grant renewed my sense of appreciation for community. It is just so healing to know there are people and organizations out there who want to make a difference!

My ultimate education goal is to get a degree in science. I am especially enthralled with marine biology and the study of botany. Our understanding of marine organisms and how they relate to pharmacology is limited and I would like to explore this further with the goal of developing new treatments for major diseases such as cancer.”
