Lila is currently working towards her master’s degree in social work with a concentration in child welfare and international social work. Lila chose this career path due to her own past experience in the social system. “As I navigated through the social system as a child, I had experiences as with good social workers and some bad social workers which had a profound impact on me. I want and strive to be an example of a good one. Currently, I am working with Arapahoe County currently, and I love it. I do hope to continue my career doing international and immigration work further in the future. I will be using the grant to pay for the upcoming quarter and be able to finish my first year with not as much stress. This allows me not to have to pick up so many hours at my other jobs and focus on making sure I have food and time for schoolwork and to help those that I support through my social work responsibilities. It is a huge relief, and I will never have the words to express what this means even to receive a grant like this.”
