Betzy is planning to study Biomedical Engineering. “I have visions for what I want to focus on and accomplish in this field that will help many people and will hopefully improve health worldwide. With my degree, I plan on working in personalized medicine and also focusing on medicine in women’s reproductive health.
I plan on using this grant for books and other school supplies necessary as well as basic living expenses like food and dorm renting. All my money is going into school payments to attend, and having this amount extra for other expenses brings weight off of my shoulders because now I would be able to afford whatever else is necessary for this college transition. Receiving the grant felt relieving and filled me with lots of joy and appreciation. I am excited to go to school and help others in my community either with my career or as a role model proving girls CAN be engineering, Latinos CAN go to a university and hard work DOES pay off.”
