Tanner is currently studying Critical diversity studies with a concentration in African American Studies. Tanner feels… “ that in a way my field of study chose me. I’ve had to overcome, over and over again, the stigma surrounding Black men and what society believes we are capable. I have had to face the imposter syndrome of it all and battle feeling insecure in all areas of my life. I want to create community for the Black and Brown teens and help them connect to resources for the particular route and passions they see for themselves. I understand how important it is to see someone like you, to have your dreams reflected back to you, so my goal is to work to find and provide opportunities for other minority groups. This grant reinforced that I’m right where I need to be. I look forward to doing this for someone else one day.
