Maya is pursuing a chemistry degree and planning on going into Forensic Toxicology after undergrad. “I plan on going into forensic science in hopes of bringing an absolute sense of right and wrong to the justice system. I believe that bringing factors like science into court rulings may help negate unjust decisions, as math and science leave little room for gray areas.

When I was told that I was being awarded this grant I felt warm and encouraged. It felt like a lot of my hard work had paid off and I was immensely happy to have found a support system of people who believe in me and want to support me in my stride to greatness. Success is one thing, but having people by my side cheering me on in my achievements makes it all worth it!”
