Jeremy is a junior at Wheeling University who is preparing for a career built on service. After beginning his college journey at California Baptist University, he transferred to Wheeling, where he has continued to grow academically, personally, and spiritually. Jeremy plans to become a police officer because he believes the role is about far more than enforcing laws. It is an opportunity to protect vulnerable people, build trust, and support others during life’s most difficult moments. He also hopes to coach and mentor young people, encouraging them to believe in themselves and their future.
Jeremy’s path to higher education has required resilience. Financial challenges, the transition to a new university, and periods without the consistent support many students rely on tested his commitment. Rather than allowing those experiences to define him, they strengthened his resolve to keep moving forward and use his education to create opportunities for others.
One belief continues to guide Jeremy’s life: “If I can positively influence someone’s life, help them through a difficult time, or inspire them to keep moving forward, then I will feel that I have made a meaningful difference.”
The Trace of Hope grant will help cover tuition, books, and other educational expenses, easing financial stress so Jeremy can focus on earning his degree. Receiving the grant also reminded him that others believe in his future and inspired him to one day extend that same encouragement to others. Jeremy hopes to serve his community with integrity while becoming the kind of mentor who helps young people see that their circumstances do not define their future.
