Annie is studying Biology & Chemistry with the goal of getting a doctorate in Chemistry and eventually building a career in conservation. “I choose Chemistry because I loved the subject and Biology as I realized during an internship that I have a passion for protecting the environment. I have been told over and over again that I should reconsider my career choices due to the fact that conservation works does not pay well. But I personally believe in making a positive impact is more fulfilling than having a high salary so am staying the course to make a difference.

I just can thank you enough for this grant. Working three job while being a double major has been stressful. Receiving this grant made me feel recognized for my efforts and has made me excited, and relieved, as I won’t have to constantly worry if I am going to be short on tuition so I can focus on my studies.
