Johanna is a recent HS graduate who is attending Baruch College in the fall. Johanna plans on studying accounting as she would like to help those where english is not their first language navigate the tax system to avoid penalties and truly understand their obligation and contribution.

As a first generation student Johanna struggled learning the english language which impacted her grades. While she ultimately did well she told us that this grant came just at the right time as “I struggled a lot with my AP classes and developed the idea that I did not deserve anything good and was really hard on myself. I realize now how hard I was on myself, you gave me hope and the ability to trust. I can’t wait now to help others.”
