Emily is looking to obtain a Bachelor’s in Human Services this fall with the goal of ultimately obtaining a masters in social work . “I am interested in this field to make sense of my own life and the joys and traumas it’s held/holds. However, I quickly realized that I could be the person I needed growing up for others who are currently struggling and that gave me a sense of purpose. I want to open my own practice where I can lower as many barriers as possible to getting care.

Receiving this grant was perfect timing and made me feel so proud of myself as well as hopeful of the future. I am putting most of the grant towards saving for housing; I need a stable place to live to ensure that I can be successful in school. I will also be using this grant for textbooks and any unpaid university fees.”
