Kat is studying to get her Bachelors in Evolution and Ecology Biology. With a young son, she currently attends part-time and was worried she might have to take on another job to fulfill her dream of continuing her education to “eventually start her own research and earn a Doctorates with a focus on conservation in wildlife in Africa. Children need advocates and wildlife needs them too!”

Kat shared that “I want to be the change we need in the world. My past hasn’t been easy with losing my father and raising a young son alone. My being in school and creating this future for my son and I is kind of a miracle. This grant will help me focus even more on my studies so I keep strong grades to qualify for future scholarships. I can’t tell you how great the timing was on this and I have taken this as a sign that I am on the right path and even believe in myself more.”
